WELCOME HOME
CAMPAIGN

Phase I

The first phase of this campaign will see Salem For Refugees purchase 1400 Broadway St. NE to be used as our Donation Center, Refugee Welcome Center and Offices. An onsite donation center with a large roll-up door, high ceilings and ample space will allow our team to better serve our new neighbors. The concept of a Welcome Center expands beyond a traditional office space and will allow a space for refugees to connect with volunteers and staff. Finally, the purchase will result in expanded office space. Since becoming an official resettlement agency in 2021, our staff has grown to 17 team members. Although this is a big step for SFR and for our community, it is a fiscally responsible choice, as there are income sources on this property that will keep our overhead expenses to a minimum. We believe this will create a position of stability and permanence for refugee resettlement in Salem.

GOAL:

We need to raise $560,000 to cover a downpayment and renovations. Our hope is to raise $200,000 from individual donations, and the remainder from foundations and grants.

Phase II

What will we do with our current office/Welcome Center space? It will not go to waste! We plan to convert our current location into a permanent host home that can accommodate our largest families. With 4 bedrooms on the main level and proximity to our new offices, this home will be used for many families each year as we search for long-term housing.

Phase III

The final phase of this campaign will allow SFR to develop an affordable housing complex designed with refugees in mind. The goal of this complex would be to provide a stable and affordable landing place that would encourage annual turnover, to provide new availability each year.

Goal.

We know that these are ambitious goals but we are confident in the generous and welcoming spirit of our community. Salem For Refugees has already been recognized locally and nationally for our unique community-centered model that provides excellent services to our new neighbors. With your generous support and the support of philanthropic organizations in our state, we believe we will accomplish this vision.
