In addition to serving refugees from all over the world, we are preparing to provide urgent resettlement assistance to Afghan families who have fled their country due to the recent Taliban takeover. Below is a list of ways that you and your community can get involved. We are also seeking financial donations to support our efforts for Afghan Evacuee Assistance.
For more information about Afghan evacuees, review this resource by World Relief.

Form a Good Neighbor Team
Good Neighbor Teams are designed to provide a warm welcome and hospitality to our New Neighbors. Teams range from 4-10 people who are assigned to a newly arriving family.
Resource Teams are teams of volunteers who work around a specific resource area and provide services for refugee families in the areas of employment, housing, education, legal, etc.
Restart Kits are bins of new household items provided to newly arriving families to help them set up their homes. Download this flyer for a complete shopping list of Restart Kits needed & instructions for putting them together.
Salem For Refugees coordinates donations of furniture and home goods to outfit the homes of incoming refugees. For a current list of needed items and to arrange a time to drop off donations, contact: Jessie@salemforrefugees.org or view our online wishlist.
Volunteer During an Event
Salem For Refugees hosts a variety of events annually that develop awareness, raise funds, and advocate for our New Neighbors. We are always looking for volunteers to help with these events.
